A sliding bearing includes a back metal, and a bearing alloy layer bonded to the back metal, and the sliding bearing is constituted by a plurality of sliding bearing segments, and each of the sliding bearing segments has a back metal portion and a bearing alloy layer portion bonded to the back metal portion, and the plurality of sliding bearing segments are bonded together to be juxtaposed in a direction of an axis of the sliding bearing, thereby forming the sliding bearing. The bearing of this invention has an advantage that the large-size sliding bearing can be produced at low costs. Those sliding bearing segments, respectively constituting opposite axial end portions of the sliding bearing, are different in bearing characteristics from the other sliding bearing segment, and with this construction, there can be obtained a sliding bearing in which a predetermined portions thereof have their respective required bearing characteristics contradictory with each other, which has heretofore been impossible. <IMAGE> |
