PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate mismatch between a displayed external event and the reality by calculating a map image and the position and state of an external event on the map image and then displaying the map image along with the external event. SOLUTION: Based on the positional information of its own vehicle calculated at a section 20 for calculating the position of its own vehicle, a display position setting section 32 reads out a map data on the periphery of its own vehicle from a map data base 10 along with a corresponding external event data and calculates information of set position. A map data input section 11 delivers a map data in the inputted set position information to a display image generating section 30 and an external event data corresponding to the map data to an event memory 51. Based on an external event data received from the event memory 51, an external event calculating section 50 calculates the position and state of the external event which are then delivered to the display image generating section 30. Based on the received position and state of the external event and the map data, the display image generating section 30 calculates the map image and the position and state of the external event on the map image. A display section 31 displays the map image along with the external event. |
