As an original 29 is fed into a photo-copying apparatus, first its leading edge and then its trailing edge operate switches which control the feeding forward of a web 22 of sensitive material and then the cutting-off of an appropriate length. The web 22 comes from a spool 16 in a separate section 14 of the main housing, and is conveyed so as to meet the original and pass in contact therewith between rollers 7, 8. From here the sheets pass into the copying section proper of the apparatus. As the original moves towards rollers 7, 8, its leading edge trips first a finger 43 and then a finger 42. These operate switches which first close a clutch circuit, and then energize it. This initiates movement of the web 22 by means of an appropriate drive. As the trailing edge of the original leaves finger 43, the clutch is de-energized, so that movement of web 22 stops. At the same time a solenoid is energized which rotates a guillotine blade 37, so cutting-off a length of web 22 equal to the length of the original. As the trailing edge leaves finger 42, the solenoid is de-energized, and the blade 37 returns to its original position. As the leading and trailing edges of the original pass a further switch 44, an indicator light is first switched on, and then off. The separate housing section 14 containing the spool of sensitive material can tilt about a pivot 15, and the balance is so arranged that when most of the spool has been unwound, the section 14 falls open Fig. 3 (not shown), thus providing a visual reminder that a further spool is required.</p> |
