<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device capable of viewing a three-dimensional image in natural colors by an observer views . <P>SOLUTION: The image display device is equipped with a liquid crystal display panel, a light source for irradiating the liquid crystal display panel, a filter arranged between the liquid crystal display panel and the light source and provided with a 1st area through which specified polarized light is transmitted and a 2nd area through which polarized light orthogonal to the specified polarized light is transmitted repeatedly in a fixed direction, and a polarizing plate having polarization characteristic that light transmitted through the liquid crystal display panel and emitted is not transmitted when the liquid crystal display panel is energized or it is not energized. The device is equipped with a low lightness object image display means for displaying a low lightness object picture whose lightness is relatively lower than the center part of a display area and a stereoscopic image display means for displaying an object image which can be stereoscopically viewed in an area put between the low lightness object images at the periphery part of the display area. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
