Table for a band saw

A band saw comprises a housing 10 which contains the drive for continuous saw blade 22. A work table 60 is mounted on the housing and is tiltable relative to it along axis B. Rotating knob 31 turns shaft 32 and hence shaft (40) via bevel gears 36 and 38. Shaft (40) drives pinion 44 which engages with arcuate rack slot (68) formed within trunnion plate (66) which extends from the bottom of table 60. The table is thus rotated about the axis B. Lock 84 slides within locking slot 72 and may be frictionally clamped thereto, to lock the table at a desired orientation. Shaft 44 has a screw thread formed thereon, on which rides pointer 57. Rotating the shaft causes the pointer to move along scale 58 to provide a visual measurement of the angle through which the table has moved.
