The system has a starting lever (6) acting on a starting shutter to actuate a carburetor during starting phase. The lever is moved in an actuating direction and an unlocking direction independent of former direction. The lever is locked in rest position relative to the actuating direction. The lever, after leaving the rest position, is unlocked in the unlocking direction so that the lever movement in the actuating direction is freed.
