PROPPANTS, METHOD OF THEIR MANUFACTURE AND USE

Described is the use of kaolin or a mixture of kaolin and bauxite with a content of KO or less than 0.2% by weight for manufacturing a proppant, i.e. an agent for maintaining in a propped condition (keeping from closure) a fracture in a subterranean formation (in oil- and gas-bearing formations).Sintered pellets manufactured from such materials possess increased strength (resistance to crushing) and increased permeability for oil and gas.
