A fuel-cell electrode comprises a conducting base on which is deposited, by electro-chemical means, from solution, an alloy of a metal which is capable of absorbing an organic molecule and facilitating electron transfer therefrom (e.g. Ni, Pt, Pd, Rh, Ir or Os) and one or more of Pb, Tl, Sn, As, Sb, Bi and Re. Other electrolytically deposited alloys described are Pt/Pd, Pt/Mo and Pt/Hg. In examples the Re is supplied as K Re O4, the Pt as H2 Pt Cl6 and Pb as Pb(OAc)2. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 989,474. |
