A device for detachably connecting an ophthalmological functional unit (50) to a housing (10), preferably a housing embodied as a handle. The device comprises a connecting element (25) which is arranged on the housing and comprises moulded cylindrical connection pieces (30) for receiving the functional unit provided with a tool (80). The housing comprising the individual components forms a first modular unit and the functional unit comprising the tool forms a second modular unit. The two modular units are interconnected in a positively locking manner by means of correspondingly embodied means, and a rod (12) which is displaceably mounted in the first modular unit is actively connected to a sliding pin (60) mounted in the second modular unit, for the actuation of the tool.
