A methid of reducing gas in a sealed bag which comprises loading the bag via its mouth or other loading inlet and extracting some of the gas from the loaded bag using gas extraction apparatus about which the mouth is at least substantially sealed and therafter sealing the bag allowing no gas ingress. The seal of the bag is below where the seal with the gas extraction apparatus occurs.
