<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving an image display apparatus, by which the generation of flicker and a moving image pseudo-outline can be suppressed and high gradation display of high driving efficiency can be attained. <P>SOLUTION: In the case of displaying a video signal having a half tone by displaying one field period so that sub-fields which are a plurality of binary images respectively weighted by time width or pulse width are timewise superposed, portions corresponding to a plurality of upper bits of a half tone expressed by binary numbers are displayed by a plurality of equally weighted sub-fields and portions corresponding to remaining lower bits are displayed by a plurality of sub-fields weighted in accordance with binary notation in the method for driving the image display apparatus. In one field, the plurality of sub-fields for the portions corresponding to the remaining lower bits are arranged on the center part, the plurality of sub-fields for the portions corresponding to the upper bits are divided into two sub-field groups and the two sub-field groups are arranged on both the plurality of sub-fields for the portions corresponding to the remaining lower bits. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
