<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card type storage medium for use in financial settlement that limits unauthorized use to a use limit amount set in the card type storage medium even if the card type storage medium is stolen/lost. <P>SOLUTION: Before an e-commerce transaction using the card type storage medium, a user sets limit amount information 300 that is information representing an upper limit amount of settlement payable in a single e-commerce transaction in an IC chip 13 mounted on the card type storage medium.
