<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reader and/or writer for an ID tag capable of sufficiently increasing a distance between a reader and/or writer body and an antenna without increasing an output of the antenna of the reader and/or writer body, and making communication only with a specific ID tag even if a plurality of ID tags are arranged within the communication range of one antenna. <P>SOLUTION: In the reader/writer 1, antenna units AU1 to AUn are provided correspondingly to respective ID tags IT1 to ITn, and the antenna unit corresponding to the ID tag for performing communication is selected to perform the communication with the target ID tag.
