PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starter having a structure capable of restraining even play of an internal gear, and bearing a thrust when a pinion gear returns, while reducing complication of the structure and the number of part items. SOLUTION: A thrust washer 100 is arranged between a center case 12 and a partition wall plate 13. The thrust washer 100 has a cut and raised part for elastically energizing the internal gear 62 forward, and bears a return thrust of an output shaft 3 by slidingly contacting with a planetary gear pin 64.
