PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic shock absorber provided with a structure capable of preventing abnormal and uncomfortable sound caused by a rebound member when a piston rod is elongated to the maximum extent. SOLUTION: This hydraulic shock absorber is provided with a maximum elongation regulation member 6 provided in a cylinder 3, a stopper member 7 provided on the piston rod 5, and the rebound member 8 provided between the maximum elongation regulation member 6 and the stopper member 7 to reduce shock caused when it is elongated to the maximum extent and is constituted by constituting the rebound member 8 by a coil spring 22 and a lower part holder 24 fitted into at least a stopper member 7 side and providing abutting parts where the holder 24 and the stopper member 7 come into face-contact mutually when the rebound member 8 is abutted on the stopper member 7 in the holder and the stopper member, respectively. An end face of the abutting part on one side among the abutting parts provided in the holder 24 and the stopper member 7, respectively, is formed like a plane, and the whole region of an end face of the abutting part on the other side is formed as a curved face to bring both of them into point-contact or line-contact.
