PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guard plate for an elevator capable of preventing noise to be generated by repeated collision of a movable plate with a fixed plate due to vibration of the movable plate. SOLUTION: In this guard plate device for an elevator, the guard plate 8 is structured of the fixed plate 9 fixed to an undersurface of a car and the movable plate 10 capable of elevating in relation to the fixed plate 9, and structured so that the movable plate 10 is relatively raised from the condition wherein the movable plate 10 is lowered by self-weight in relation to the fixed plate 9 when the car is lowered and a lower end of the movable plate 10 abuts on a pit floor surface of a hoistway. The fixed plate 9 is provided with a pair of guide parts 9a along the vertical direction, and a guide shoe 11 to be slid with the guide part 9a to avoid repeated collision of the movable plate 10 with the fixed plate 9 due to vibration of the movable plate is installed in the movable plate 10.
