<p>A dielectric ceramic of high dielectric constant that in the use in multilayer ceramic capacitor (1), even when the thickness of dielectric ceramic layer (3) is reduced, realizes high insulation and excels in reliability. There is provided a dielectric ceramic for construction of dielectric ceramic layer (3) of multilayer ceramic capacitor (1), comprising a composition of the formula 100(Ba<SUB>1-w-x-m</SUB>Ca<SUB>w</SUB>Sr<SUB>x</SUB>Gd<SUB>m</SUB>)<SUB>k</SUB>(Ti<SUB>1-y-z-n</SUB>Zr<SUB>y</SUB>Hf<SUB>z</SUB>Mg<SUB>n</SUB>)O<SUB>3+a</SUB> + pMnO<SUB>2</SUB> + qSiO<SUB>2</SUB> + rCuO, wherein 0.995=k=1.010, 0=w<0.04, 0=x=0.04, 0=y=0.10, 0=z=0.05, 0.015=m=0.035, 0.015=n=0.035, 0.01=p=1.0, 0.5=q=2.5 and 0.01=r=5.0, and a is a value selected so that the main component is electrically neutral against any deviation from 3.</p> |
