<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the increase in size and costs of an air conditioner constituted to suddenly prevent pressure difference in switching from a heating operation to a cooling operation. <P>SOLUTION: In this air conditioner 1, a plurality of indoor units 6 are connected through a cooling/heating switching device 35. The cooling/heating switching device 35 is provided with a first bypass passage 40 capable of connecting a high-pressure gas pipe 3 and a low-pressure gas pipe 5, and an outdoor unit 2 is provided with a second bypass passage 45 capable of connecting a discharge side and a suction side of a compressor 10.
