<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus without causing any deviation between an actual operating state and counter information by eliminating the contention of operations of two controllers in a configuration wherein an SFP controller is provided on a printer side and an MFP controller is provided on a scanner side, and to provide its control method. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is characterized by including: a printer 703; the SFP controller 704 mountable with a storage device and for controlling the printer 703; and a scanner 702 wherein the scanner 702 can be connected to the MFP controller 701 mountable with the storage device and for controlling the printer 703 and the scanner 702, and by which of the SFP controller 704 and the MFP controller 701 the printer section 703 and the scanner section 702 are controlled is determined on the basis of the presence/absence of connection between the scanner 702 and the MFP controller 701 and the presence/absence of the storage device. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
