<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique which can prevent sulfur components contained in added reducer from flowing into an NOx catalyst so as to maintain a high NOx cleanup rate. <P>SOLUTION: By providing an S trap catalyst 11 which entraps sulfur components contained in exhaust gas discharged from an internal combustion engine 1 and an S trap catalyst 12 which entraps the sulfur components contained in the reducer added in the exhaust gas the sulfur components of which have been entrapped by the S trap catalyst 11, the sulfur poisoning of the NOx catalyst 14 can be surely prevented. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
