SOLUTION: The lighting system including a power source circuit 13, a charging circuit 14 for a battery 9 and a control circuit 15 controlling power supply to a lamp 10, assembles a checkup sequence 20 consisting of an automatic checkup program for the battery 19 in the control circuit 15 and performs automatic checkup for the battery 9 in an automatic checkup mode by subjecting an external power source switch to an OFF operation, The lighting device performs the automatic checkup for the battery 9 with a remote operation.
