PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pulse width modulation signal generator capable of making a duty ratio be different for each unit pulse signal and generating a plurality of pulse width modulation signals of different whole lengths just by storing a little data amount in storage means (11 and 12), and its generation method. SOLUTION: From a plurality of set values stored in the storage means (11 and 12) for three kinds of respective variables which are an initial duty ratio, a duty change rate and the number of the unit pulse signals constituting one phase, a selected initial duty ratio, a selected duty change rate and the selected number of the unit pulse signals are read. The duty ratio of all the unit pulse signals constituting one phase is indicated from the selected values, the respective unit pulse signals for which the duty ratio is determined are made to continue, and the pulse width modulation signals are generated.
