INDUSTRIAL EVAPORATOR

An industrial evaporator in which a liquid containing a substance having a lower boiling point than the liquid is caused to flow down along the outer surface of a guide to vaporize the low-boiling substance during the flowing, and which can be stably operated over long on such an industrial scale that the liquid is thus vaporization-treated to give a treated liquid at a rate of 1 ton or more per hour. The evaporator is free from the problem that the liquid partly resides for a prolonged period and thus alters to arouse a trouble. The guide itself has no heater. The evaporator has, disposed in a liquid supply zone, a passage control part having the function of causing the liquid supplied through a liquid inlet to flow mainly from peripheral parts of a perforated plate toward a central part thereof. The evaporator has a vaporization zone in which the distance K (cm) between that part of the guide which is nearest to the inner wall surface of the side casing and the inner wall surface is in a specific range. It has a specific structure satisfying the relationships (1) to (5), desirably the relationships (1) to (11), preferably the relationships (1) to (14). The evaporator can facilitate the production of a liquid concentrate, condensation polymer, or thermoplastic polymer each having high quality and a high purity.
