A lighting apparatus for a microscope and a lighting system for the microscope. The body (1) of the lighting apparatus (100) for the microscope is formed in a stepped cylindrical shape. A LED light source device (4) is fitted to the upper end part of the body (1), a mounting part (1c) mountable on the eyepiece holding tube (21) of the microscope (200) is fitted to the lower end part thereof, and a built-in polarizing plate is installed therein. The mounting part (1c) of the body (1) of the lighting apparatus (100) for the microscope where a diameter is formed minimum is fittedly inserted into one eyepiece holding tube (21) of the microscope (200). Also, a polarizing plate cover (8) is installed to cover the other eyepiece holding tube (21) of the microscope (200). Thus, the lighting apparatus can be compactly manufactured at low cost and perform coaxial epi-illumination observation.
