PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus by which reduction in battery charge is minimized and stable shooting is performed under low battery charge conditions without complicating the apparatus and increasing its cost. SOLUTION: Voltage of a battery as an operating power source for the imaging apparatus body is detected by a voltage detection means. Frequency of high-speed flushing pulses which are formed by a driving control signal generating means for flushing the unwanted charge filling a vertical shift register of an imaging means is varied according to the result of detection. In this way, electric power consumption is reduced, and an imaging apparatus for which more efficient energy-saving measures are taken is provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
