PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a folding type portable radio unit capable of reducing a local average SAR. SOLUTION: A first casing and a second casing are linked by a hinge portion so as to be freely opened/closed. A dipole antenna is then constituted of an antenna element provided in the first casing, a conductive metal hinge element electrically connected to the antenna element and provided in the hinge portion, and a first feeding section for feeding power from a circuit board provided in the second casing to the conductive metal hinge element. A planar capacitive coupling element is provided, in the circuit board, at a predetermined interval with the conductive metal hinge element so as to have capacitive reactance. Moreover, a current distribution element for distributing a current flowing through the dipole antenna is provided while electrically connecting its one terminal to the planar capacitive coupling element and opening its other terminal.
