PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a torque converter comprising a stator with a one-way clutch and having a reduced axial size and a reduced number of components. SOLUTION: The torque converter is provided for transmitting power from a front cover to a turbine hub 5 via a pump impeller 3 and a turbine liner 4. It comprises the stator 6 for directing operating oil from the turbine liner 4 to the pump impeller 3, and the one-way clutch 9 for setting the rotating direction of the stator 6 to be only one direction. The one-way clutch 9 is held at both sides by two supporting plates 910, 911. The two supporting plates 910, 911 are positioned/fixed relative to the stator 6 in the axial direction with a single snap ring 905. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
