The invention relates to a method for controlling an especially petrol, spark ignition, supercharged internal combustion engine comprising at least one cylinder (12) with a combustion chamber (14), at least two admission means (24, 26), at least one fuel injection means (40, 42), at least one exhaust means (28, 30), and an ignition means (52). The inventive method consists of the following steps: an air-fuel mixture with a ratio higher than or equal to 1 is prepared; another air-fuel mixture with a ratio lower than 1 is prepared; and the two mixtures are introduced into the combustion chamber in such away as to ensure that part (C1) of the chamber contains an air-fuel mixture with a ratio higher than or equal to 1, and the remaining part (C2) of the chamber contains the air-fuel mixture with a ratio lower than 1. |
