<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus the saving of power of which is furthermore made effective. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a plurality of power supply blocks 210, 211, 212, 213 for controlling or driving each of sections configuring the image forming apparatus, and a system control section 220 for controlling the whole image forming apparatus is connected to the one block 210 of the power supply blocks to supply power to the control section 220. The power supply block 210 is provided with a switch means 110 for turning on/off a power supply line 100; and a switching means control means 300 whose power consumption is smaller than that of the system control section 110 and applying ON/OFF control to the switching means.
