PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch a main line and an auxiliary line at high speed.

SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a link control apparatus that controls a link in a data link layer in the case of communication line fault, and comprises: a main data input/output port; an auxiliary data input/output port; and a fault detection signal input port, wherein a fault detection signal due to a voltage or reception level reduction is inputted from a media converter connected to the main data input/output port to the fault detection signal input port and transferred to an Ethernet(R) switch element via a controller, thereby instantaneously switching the line to the auxiliary data input/output port.
