PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data recorder capable of automatically setting a chapter in a specific position desired by a user, a satellite broadcast receiver, and a television receiver. SOLUTION: Upon the start of recording, a system control circuit compares video data ("video data" hereinafter) based on a broadcast signal obtained from an MPEG encoder via a tuner at a fixed cycle with specific image data ("stored image" hereinafter) stored in, e.g., a hard disk (step S2). When it detects the coincidence of the received video with a stored image (YES in step S4), the system control circuit sets a chapter in the position of the coincident received video based on the elapse of time from the recording start (step S6).
