PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner of high safety capable of eliminating airborne bacteria. SOLUTION: A branch passage B branched from an air passage A is formed near a supply opening 4, and an ion generator 15 mounted in opposition to the branch passage B is placed on a position shifted from a control board 27 in the vertical direction of a case 28 so that an ion-generating element 25 is positioned at an upstream side in the air supply direction of the branch passage B with respect to the control board 27. Thus the air conditioner can be thinned, a spatial distance and a creeping distance from a supply opening portion which a user may touch, to a discharge electrode of the ion generating element 25 can be secured even when the ion generator 15 is mounted near the supply opening, and the safety can be improved.
