The device has electrical machines with adjacent stators and rotors in the force line between an engine driven shaft and gearbox drive shaft. The rotors interact with a planetary gearbox with a deactivation coupling. One of 2 adjacent rotors is connected to a gearbox element and the driven shaft. The second rotor is connected to a further gearbox element. The drive shaft is connected to a third element; 2 elements can be bridged by the coupling. The device has electrical machines with adjacent stators (20,22) and rotors (24,26) in the force flow line between a driven shaft (10) of an internal combustion engine and a drive shaft (12) of a speed-changing gearbox. The rotors interact with a planetary gearbox with at least three elements and a coupling is provided for deactivating the planetary gearbox. One of two adjacent rotors is connected to a planetary gearbox element (30) and to the engine's driven shaft. The second rotor is connected to a further planetary gearbox element (34). The drive shaft is connected to the third element (32) and two elements can be bridged by the coupling (38).
