<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent over speed of an engine and two motor/generator connected with a hybrid transmission. <P>SOLUTION: Immediately after t0 at which engine rotational speed Ne approaches a target value tNe, gear shift control gain Gs is reduced more than a usual gain to suppress overshoot by which Ne exceeds tNe and prevent over speed by which Ne reaches an upper limit value Ne2. Between t2 and t3 where Ne exceeds tNe and exceeds Ne2 further, gear shift control gain Gs is increased more than the usual gain in accordance with an approach condition of tNe to Ne2 to converge Ne into tNe speedily and prevent over speed indicated by a two-dot chain line. When Ne exceeds tNe at t7 and exceeds Ne2 further between t8 and t9, target driving force is reduced like between t8 and t9 by driving force gain corresponding to a deviation rate between tNe and Ne2 to shift from attaching importance to driving force to attaching importance to gear shift speed and increase Gs more than the usual gain like between t8 and t9 in accordance with a deviation rate of tNe for Ne2.
