PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device capable of displaying a display target on a position suited to viewing, a method for controlling the display device, a control program, and a recording medium in a compact and portable apparatus having a display part constituted so that a display screen is arranged over approximately the whole periphery of a circular frame. SOLUTION: The display device is provided with the circular frame 12, the display part 11 arranged along the periphery face of the circular frame 12, a detection part 17 placed on the frame 12, for detecting a gravitational acceleration direction, and a control part 14 for displaying a display target on a display area by setting a prescribed position allowed to be viewed from a position of a reverse direction to the gravitational acceleration direction to the frame as a display reference position out of the display area of the display part 11 on the basis of the gravitational acceleration direction detected by the detection part 17.
