PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing recording apparatus which prevents the printing result from being partially cut or printed over a plurality of sheets also when printing recording media placed on a feeder for the printing recording media are not equal in size, and which prevents an extra printing recording medium from being used for size measurement of the printing recording media. SOLUTION: The printing recording apparatus has a means which measures a length in a transfer direction of the printing recording medium by transfer of the printing recording medium, a means which detects a width of the printing recording medium at a recording head installation member part, and a means which returns the printing recording medium transferred to a final end to a printing start position. When the size of the measured printing recording medium is equal to or larger than the size of printing data acquired from a printing controller, printing is carried out. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
