PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve characteristic control device of an internal combustion engine capable of suitably securing responsiveness and stability of a control system, by properly setting control gain in feedback control, when controlling a variable valve mechanism by making a feedback process. SOLUTION: The lift time area TS is calculated on the basis of an actual valve working angle VR of an intake valve and an engine speed NE (S110). Next, air sensitivity AS is calculated on the basis of a present state value of this lift time area TS (S120), and the control gain G in the feedback control is set on the basis of this calculated air sensitivity AS (S130).
