Friction pair comprises two materials in which one material contains a fiber-reinforced ceramic or metallic material A containing reinforcing fibers made from carbon or ceramic fibers or whiskers. Material B interacts with the material A in the friction pair and is selected from ceramic or metallic materials, sintered metals, sintered oxidic ceramics, sintered nitride ceramics, sintered carbide ceramics and organic sintered materials. - An INDEPENDENT CLAIM is also included for a process for the production of ceramic materials reinforced with carbon short fibers.
