The present invention discloses the identification of an autoantigen useful in diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease. Specifically, the present invention relates to methods and kits for diagnosing Alzheimer's disease by determining the presence of anti-aldolase antibodies in a biological sample of a subject and to methods for treating Alzheimer's disease by modulating the immune response of the subject.
