<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent troubles, such as exposure faults from occurring because toner dropping or scattering from a toner transfer portion, such as developing nip adheres to the functional component of an exposure device. <P>SOLUTION: A cleaning device 30 for removing residual toner after transfer is arranged below a photoreceptor drum 2. In the cleaning device 30, the wall surface 37 of a waste toner bottle 34 overhangs below the toner transfer portion A where the toner is transferred to an electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor drum 2 from a developing roll 22. A plurality of steps 38, bent nearly at right angles, are formed on the wall surface 37. The exposure device 4 is arranged below the plurality of steps 38, and a protective lens 20a from which a laser beam B is emitted is provided thereat.
