<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data storage device for preventing storage contents from being erased even when an internal memory is volatile, and for extending a durable period by suppressing power consumption of an internal battery. <P>SOLUTION: Whether or not it is possible to supply a power from a main battery 60 being an external battery mounted on a mounting part 25 to an SRAM 12 being a volatile memory is decided. When power supply is possible, power is supplied from the main battery 60 to the SRAM 12. Thus, when power supply from the main battery 60 is available, the power consumption of a button battery 22 being an internal battery is suppressed, so that a durable period can be extended. Also, when it is decided that power supply is not available, the power is supplied from the button battery 22 to the SRAM 12.
