PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus to find tube bulb temperature of high-pressure discharge lamp. SOLUTION: The method to find the tube bulb temperature (T) of high-pressure discharge lamp includes following steps: the step of determining a first spectrum radiating power (M<SB>P</SB>) with a first wavelength (λ<SB>p</SB>), the step of determining a second spectrum radiating power (M<SB>C</SB>) with a second wavelength (λ<SB>C</SB>) different from the first wavelength, the step of finding a quotient (β) from the first radiating power and the second radiating power, and the step of finding the tube bulb temperature (T) based on the quotient.
