PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for forming an image for preventing contamination of a photoreceptor due to deposition and sticking of a precipitative substance, derived from a transfer belt on the photoreceptor surface, preventing accompanying toner fusion or cleaning failure, as well as, reducing transfer drop due to toner aggregation at a contact site between the transfer belt and the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: The method is carried out by using a photoreceptor having a conductive substrate, a photoconductive layer containing at least amorphous silicon, and a surface protective layer containing amorphous silicon and/or amorphous carbon and/or amorphous silicon nitride, on the conductive substrate. The infiltration amount x of an endless transfer belt, containing an elastic material to the photoreceptor surface at a contact site with the photoreceptor, is in the range of 0%<x≤5% with respect to the diameter d of the photoreceptor. The toner is a magnetic single-component toner containing at least a binder resin and a magnetic material, has a weight average diameter of 4 to 10μm and has a specified amount of a surface magnetic material in the toner particles.
