<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content distribution system and the like capable of preventing squeeze of a storage area of a client reproducing contents, preventing loss of contents data, and allowing duplication of the contents data as required while protecting a copyright and the like. <P>SOLUTION: When a user terminal 3-k feeds a checkout request for music data to a management server 2, the management server 2 responds to the request and determines whether checkout is allowed or not based on a holding music list stored in the management server 2. When checkout is allowed, the music data are fed to a content server 1 for updating the holding music list.
