PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce fatigue during viewing for a long time. SOLUTION: A frame memory 1 stores a video signal. An environment signal 2 has a value in the surrounding environment of a viewer. A stimulus calculator 3 obtains the stimulus received from a display by the viewer by using an image signal, a time-delayed video signal stored in the frame memory 1, and an environment signal 2 as an input, and by calculating values originating from a change in the luminance of the environment and video signals. A fatigue calculator 4 receives the numeric value of the stimulus obtained at the stimulus calculator 3, and accumulates it, thus calculating the numeric value of fatigue accumulated in the viewer, and hence modeling the fatigue that the viewer receives from the light of the display unit. A correction coefficient calculator 5 calculates a correction coefficient for correcting image quality based on the numeric value of fatigue obtained by the fatigue calculator 4. An image quality adjustment 6 performs correction considering the viewer's fatigue to the video signal with a correction coefficient obtained at the correction coefficient calculator 5.
