PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing device capable of preventing the temperature of an outer surface from being overshot by fixing outer surface temperature without using a fan in warm-up and capable of suppressing electric energy to be consumed to maintain the outer surface temperature for fixing up to the start of fixing processing. SOLUTION: The fixing device 30 comprises: a heat transfer member 40 having an outer surface which forms a conveyance path of a recording medium 24; a heat source 60 opposed to the recording medium 24 through the heat transfer member 40; an outer surface temperature measuring means 48 for measuring the temperature of the outer surface; a heat source side temperature measuring means 50 for measuring the heat source side temperature of the heat transfer member 40; and a heat source control means 44 for controlling the heat source 60 based on the measurement results of the outer surface temperature measuring means 48 and the heat source side temperature measuring means 50. When an outer surface temperature lower than a prescribed outer surface temperature Tsw is measured in warm-up, the heat source control means 44 maintains the heat source 60 at ON until a first heat source side temperature Tcw corresponding to the prescribed outer surface temperature Tsw is measured and then maintains the heat source 60 at OFF until outer surface temperature Tsf necessary for fixing is measured. Then the heat source control means 44 controls the heat source 60 based on the measurement result of the outer surface temperature measuring means 48 so that the heat source 60 is maintained almost at the temperature Tsf in a stand-by period for fixing processing.
