PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a head mounted display apparatus, capable of eliminating the need for a computer, such as a PC and a WS at the operation check for checking whether the apparatus is operating normally, capable of saving labor, such as the required time for the starting of the computer and capable of simply checking the operation. SOLUTION: The head-mounted video display apparatus is provided with an imaging means for imaging external field, an image output means for outputting an image photographed by the imaging means to the external, an image input means for inputting an image signal from the external, an image display means for displaying the inputted image signal on a display element, and a light guide means for guiding the image light projected by the image display means to user's pupils is also provided with an image input switching means for deciding whether the input signal to the image input means is to be switched to the image signal from the external.
