PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon nanotube containing an osmium cluster which dissolves well in water as well as in various organic solvents, and a method for manufacturing the carbon nanotube containing the osmium cluster. SOLUTION: The CNT (carbon nanotube) functionalized by the osmium (Os) cluster is a zwitter ion complex wherein a functionalized carbon nanotube with two or more carboxyl (COOH) groups and a triosmium derivative with one or more amino groups are combined through a zwitterion interaction between the COOH groups and the amino groups, and show high solubility not only in water, but in various organic solvent.
