<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an exhaust gas cleaning filter capable of preventing a malfunction to accumulate particulates in the upstream end of the exhaust gas cleaning filter. <P>SOLUTION: The exhaust gas cleaning filter 1 is an exhaust gas cleaning filter which cleans the exhaust gas including particulates exhausted from a diesel engine and has a base material 20 which constitutes a large number of cells 10 extending axially, while arranging a porous barrier 2 like polygonal gridirons and a stopper material 3 is provided to block the cell 10 in the downstream end of the cell 10 which works as an introduction passage 11 to introduce the exhaust gas among the cells 10 of the base material 20 and in the upstream of the cell 10 which works as an exhaust passage 12 to discharge the exhaust gas which passed through the porous barrier 2. When a porosity of the front end part region 21 which is a prescribed region from the axial upstream end of the base material 20 is tentatively A(%) and when the porosity except the front end part region 21 is tentatively B(%), A<B is established.
