PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyester having good transparency and excellent flame retardancy and being desirably applicable to moldings such as films, sheets, and bottles. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant polyester for molding is a polyester based on ethylene terephthalate units and characterized by containing a copolymerized organophosphorus compound (1) in an amount of 500 to 15,000 ppm in terms of a phosphorus content in the polyester, containing a 100-400 ppm solid solution comprising an aluminum compound and a magnesium compound, and having a limiting viscosity of not less than 0.6 and a haze of not more than 5%.
